You will see, feel, and learn so much with this Kenya and Tanzania Safari about Africa’s wildlife, land, and culture in this very complete 12-day safari adventure. We will explore 7 of Kenya’s and Tanzania’s finest parks, with their stunning diversity of vistas and animals – beautiful lakes, towering cliffs, sweeping grasslands, and the multitude of wild game filling these panoramas.
Tanzania will be no less spectacular with its vast Serengeti plains, hosting wildlife in the millions. The great Ngorongoro Crater is the most spectacular volcanic caldera in the world. Its sunrises and sunsets at the crater rim burst with color. Kenya and Tanzania Safari is one of the best of Africa Safaris and Incredible Kenya Adventures is ready to share it with you!
12 days will provide you with plenty of time to absorb the many parks and reserves of our safari, so the pace will be relaxed but thorough. We start off with the most popular park in Africa Masai Mara National Reserve with its rugged, pristine landscape. Most of our game viewing will be along the Mara River with its life-nourishing waters. The game here is varied with notably wildebeest migration if you are lucky to book during the migration season, lion, cheetah, and leopard taking top billing along with gerenuk, Grevy’s zebra, and reticulated giraffe.
We move on to the Rift Valley lake country with a visit to Lake Nakuru National Park. This beautiful park features dramatic escarpments and acacia forest. The lake itself shows off stunning pink flamingos that gather here. At the shore, you’ll take in waterbuck, zebra, gazelle, and buffalo. The park is also famous for its population of the endangered Rothschild’s giraffe.
Then to Aberdares Treetop.
Treetops Lodge lies in the path of an ancient elephant migratory route between the Aberdare Ranges and Mt Kenya National Park and is strategically positioned in front of a natural watering hole making it a haven for lovers of elephants and buffaloes. Every evening, buffaloes and elephants make for a spectacular view while drinking at the waterhole. Every room at Treetops is fitted with a buzzer for the animal lovers who would want to be alerted when there is a game at the watering hole.
The entire Lodge is fitted with large windows and visitors can view the game from anywhere within the building. The view deck is strategically located in a semi-open area and is the best place to view animals as visitors down their drinks. Built on stilts, access is through a gradual ramp to the top floor and has an indigenous tree growing right through the building. Upon arrival, the resident hunter escorts visitors to see the magnificent flora and fauna present around the Lodge.
Now it’s time for, Amboseli National Park. Seated near the base of Mt. Kilimanjaro, the park is a blend of savannah plains and deep green swampland. You’ll have many opportunities to view elephant here, but there’s also lion, cheetah, hyena, and hundreds of bird species. And don’t forget to enjoy the magnificent views of nearby Mt. Kilimanjaro.
Our next Tanzania park is smaller but contains its own colorful drama. Lake Manyara National Park hosts millions of vibrant flamingos and other birdlife. The park also features great herds of elephant and the very unique tree-climbing lion.
We now cross the border into Tanzania and Serengeti National Park, the lands from which the great migration begins. The endless grasslands of the Serengeti boast millions of wildlife, especially wildebeest and zebra. But the Big Five are here, as well as gazelle, impala, hartebeest, and cheetah.
A not-to-be-missed feature of the Serengeti is the World Heritage Site of Ngorongoro Crater. This is the world’s largest fully intact volcanic caldera. From the crater’s rim, you will marvel at the most awe-inspiring sunrises and sunsets. But even more impressive, traveling down to the crater floor you’ll enter a world of intense wildlife. Here you’ll be amongst the highest density of lion and predators in Africa! But not to worry, they’ll keep their distance plus your experienced guide knows his way around this amazing eco-system.
